About The Hicksie Cup Tournament

The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Memorial Hockey Tournament, more affectionately known as the Hicksie Cup, began in 2010. Although a preseason tournament, the competition brings out each team’s early season best as they fight for the coveted, silver Hicksie Cup trophy and local bragging rights!

The tournament, held at Ice Line in West Chester, will begin with twelve high school teams competing in four nights of preliminary round play on Monday, September 17; Thursday, September 20; Monday, September 24;
and Friday, September 28, to determine which teams will play in the Championship and Consolation Games on October 1.

This year the Hicksie Cup will also have a silent auction featuring signed sports memorabilia from the Philadelphia Flyers, the Stanley Cup winning Washington Capitals, and Superbowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

The money raised from this year’s tournament will be used to underwrite Foundation programming including the 2019 Learn-To-Skate event which will be held at Ice Line in March. The Foundation expects to bring approximately 100 kids from Chester to Ice Line to spend an afternoon learning how to ice skate with 100 of the high school hockey players that participated in the Hicksie Cup.

2018 Hicksie Cup Silent Auction

Taking place at Rink 1 on Monday 9/17, Thursday 9/20, and Monday 9/24.
The auction will be closing at 9:0pm on Monday, 9/24.
All winners will be contacted.

Learn to Skate

Coming This Spring

Learn to Skate is a spring event for the Foundation that honors the game that Andrew loved so much, and encourages Chester County hockey players to come and teach Chester youth to ice skate. Over 80 Chester 3rd-5th graders are bused to Ice Line in West Chester where they are greeted by over 80 high school hockey players who are ready to spend the afternoon teaching them how to ice skate!

Each Chester child is paired with a skater for the afternoon for a one-on-one lesson. The pairs skate on the ice together and then enjoy a delicious, catered dinner, followed by hot chocolate and cookies for dessert. This is a favorite event that brings repeat hockey players and youth from Chester together or an awesome day on the ice, year after year.
